Tales from EMPLOYEE REWARDS PROGRAMS IN ACTION: Burt and Ernie use Peer-to-Peer Recognition, as part of their Employee Rewards Program!

Yeah Burt, I just read the announcement. Every month, each department votes for which employee did the most to help their team. The employee with the most votes wins a GOLD Reward from our Employee Rewards Program. I think it’s a great idea!
I agree, I think it’s awesome! I was super happy when my manager gave me a GOLD Reward, when I put in all that extra time because we were so busy. But the best way to win would be to have everyone in my department vote for me!
I know, that would be the best way to be recognized. I like it when my manager sees that I’m doing a good job for the company, but if it was my co-workers… That would make it even more special.
So, you think you got a shot at winning the vote in your department this first month Ernie?
Maybe. I helped get everyone ready for the new training class that accounting is doing, I went to the class and took really good note, and then passed them around to everyone else.
That’s right, and your manager gave you a GOLD Reward for doing that.
Yeah, she said I was demonstrating great team spirit! And I’ve also had a really positive attitude since then. I’ve felt like the company appreciates me and my work.
Me too, this Employee Rewards Program has had a pretty positive effect on me. And it’s helped my whole department, it just seems to have made everyone feel a little better about their jobs.
Yep, that’s what we’re seeing too.
So, you think everyone will vote for you, as the Most Valuable Player?
I hope they do. I’m going to keep my positive attitude. But Oscar has been doing a great job lately. He might win instead of me.
Well, this is only the first month that we get to vote. So even if Oscar wins in your department now, you’re bound to get the vote sometime soon.
You too Burt, there’s a good change your team will vote for you. You’re always one of the hardest workers in Customer Service.
Yeah, my numbers are pretty good, I work with a lot of our customers. But Timmy has shown a lot of improvement lately. He’s on a roll.
Are his numbers better than yours for this month?
No, but he’s definitely the most improved person in our department. I think I’ll end up voting for him.
That’s cool. It helps everyone, when someone on your team gets better.
Yeah, he’s able to pick up a lot of work that I didn’t think he could handle before. It’s made life in our department a little easier for everyone. That’s why I think he’ll win MVP this month, everyone’s noticed how much better he’s doing now.
Well, there’s no down side. It’s a win-win, as my boss always says. Timmy makes your job easier, then he wins the MVP vote this month, and so maybe you win it next month.
That’s the plan. I still want to win another GOLD Reward, so I can get those Headphones.
I remember you talking about the Headphones before, they look really nice. Well, it’s back to work time Burt. Let me know who wins your department’s MVP this month. I hope it’s you!
Thanks Ernie, I’ll let you know who wins. You let me know who wins in your department too. Good luck!
OK, will do. See you later.
